Tehama County unemployment sees another drop in May

RED BLUFF — Tehama County’s unemployment rate is at 5.1 percent, according to preliminary reports released Friday by the California Employment Development Department.
The 5.1 percent is down from the previous month’s 5.5 percent and an entire percentage drop from May of 2017.
California’s unemployment rate dropped .1 percent from 3.8 percent in April to 3.7 percent in May. Unemployment for the nation also saw a .1 percent drop from 3.7 to 3.6 percent.
San Mateo County kept its top spot for lowest unemployment in the state at 1.9 percent, a drop from 2 percent in April. Marin and San Francisco counties are in second with 2 percent and 2.1 percent respectively. Santa Clara County came in at 2.3 percent and Sonoma County at 2.4 percent.
