Raul, how long have you lived in Tehama County?
I moved here in June of 1994.
What brought you to Tehama County?
Work, I was offered a position at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center, but I was not going to move here if I didn’t like the area. When I came to visit, and the natural beauty here was a huge draw, so I made the move.
What do you do for a living?
I am a manager for Wal-Mart Distribution Center Logistics; one of the things I like about working there is how they encourage their employees to be involved in our community and volunteer.
What is your favorite thing about Tehama County?
The natural beauty of our surrounding area, and all of the outdoor recreation that is so easily accessible. A week ago, I took a canoe on the Sacramento River, which was so fun. We went into a slough off the main river, and it was so beautiful.
When I first moved here from Porterville, California, I was overwhelmed with how friendly people in Red Bluff are, I fell in love with the community, I wanted my family around the type of atmosphere that exists here.
What is your favorite Tehama County activity?
Driving through the back roads of our county and enjoying nature, when I have time, I love to fish, and there are a lot of areas to do that here.
What is your favorite time of year in Tehama County?
Indian Summer, going into fall. I enjoy the warm days that begin cooling down.
