Tehama County is no stranger to celebratory events throughout the year, but July is an especially exciting month for the community. Events like the Annual 4th of July celebration at the Mill Creek Resort, located near the Lassen Volcanic National Park, provide community members with the opportunity to escape the summer heat at a higher elevation while they enjoy the beautiful Tehama County scenery.

A Taste of Americana

The patriotic 4th of July event takes place every year on the Sunday following the 4th of July, and the theme is always a celebration of the birthday of our country.

Vicki Stroud elaborates on the fun attendees had at this year’s 4th of July event that gave everyone “A Taste of Americana”.

4th of July Parade“The morning started with a pancake breakfast prepared and served by volunteers from the community and fire dept. The parade started at approximately 10:00 am. Locals and visitors decorated bikes, ATVs, classic cars and more! The world famous Mineral Ladies Marching Kazoo Band also made their 12th appearance, complete with majorettes!” Stroud says.

The parade of vehicles stole the show with fun and unique designs. The American flag peppered the streets. Children even joined in on the fun with their very own decorated bikes and trikes.

Following the delicious pancake breakfast and colorful parade, the event ended with a raffle. The raffle prizes were donated by residents, and all proceeds support the Mineral/Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

“The annual 4th of July event has been around as long as anyone can remember. Everyone is welcome to attend and/or participate! It is held the Sunday following the 4th of July each year, but this year Sunday actually fell on the 4th!” She adds.

The Fun Doesn’t End Here

The summer fun doesn’t end with the 4th of July celebration-- more Tehama County events are planned for August! The Sizzling Summer Spectacular Craft and Vendor Fair in Red Bluff will be held August 7th, the Red Bluff Brew Battle in the Red Bluff River Park will take place on August 14th, and the Market by the River in the Red Bluff River Park is open on Saturdays all summer.
