Monday, April 08, 2019
Sacramento, CA – Following the California Employment Development Department’s (EDD) release of the state’s employment data from February, the Governor’s Chief Economic and Business Advisor and Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development Lenny Mendonca issued the following statement.
“The economic expansion continues, with California adding 14,600 nonfarm payroll jobs in February. The unemployment rate remains steady, and is slightly less than February of last year. California added 222,500 jobs from February 2018 to February 2019, and encouragingly, job growth was robust in Central Valley, with Fresno seeing a 3.6% increase in jobs—second only to the Bay Area. We are optimistic that employers are beginning to realize the workforce opportunities of this region. Moving forward, we will pursue economic policies that help California’s heartland continue to rise.
